Brief Background of the Organisation

We have been serving the rural women folk of the north east province since 1988. Our board consists of people with experience in community development and have a definite bias towards the rural poor, particularly women. The projects that we have carried out  during  the past include Conducting awareness seminars at rural level, leadership training at village level, free legal aid and counseling services, providing revolving loan facilities   to rural women headed families and arranging scholarship programs to girls. In addition, we conduct activities related to violence against women and women’s human rights. Our directors have participated in many local and international seminars and conferences concerning women and development. Our main objective is to help in the promotion, development and dissemination of knowledge regarding the evolution of women’s role in the society with the view of;
 
i.   Enhancing women’s participation in the development process.
ii.  Assist them in implementation of measures for realizing women’s equality.
iii. Building the capacity of women to advocate and participate in political affairs     and       social justices.
iv. Facilitate access to information by strengthening communication network between women,     women’s groups and institutions.
